Description:Hippophae, the sea-buckthorns, are deciduous shrubs in the family Elaeagnaceae. The name sea-buckthorn is hyphenated here to avoid confusion with the buckthorns (Rhamnus, family Rhamnaceae). It is also referred to as sandthorn, sallowthorn,or seaberry.
