Description: Boswellia (Boswellia serrata), (also known as salai guggal or Indian frankincense) is a botanical used frequently in Ayurvedic medicine and traditionally used for inflammatory disorders, such as asthma and arthritis. Boswellic acid, the major constituent of Boswellia, is thought to inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and leukotriene synthesis, and this may be the mechanism for its antiinflammatory properties. Boswellia may enhance the effectiveness of conventional leukotriene modifier medications.
